I was excited when Bill Alt contacted me about his upcoming 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration. He was so great to hear describe his wife and his family. I could tell there was many years of wedded bliss between he and his bride. I was honored to be chosen as the photographer to capture this very, very important occasion.
I entered the original small church of St. John the Baptist in New Freedom, PA, I saw all the history within its walls. The worn wood of the pews. The original tall stained glass windows. The impressive alter. As the family and friends gathered to fill the space with warmth and love, it was almost time for the couple to make their celebratory entrance with their children and grandchildren leading the way. The ceremony was special and heartfelt. Each persona attending greeted the couple with jovial conversation and many, many hugs.
We spent some time capturing their beautiful family before we proceeded up the hill to the social hall where a polka band was providing wonderful music. Bill & Mary danced their first dance of their 50th year of marriage. As dinner concluded, their son provided a very nice toast to his parents. But not to be outdone, Bill had prepared a toast of his own to his beloved. She beamed with love and admiration with each word he spoke.
Outside, many friends and family gathered to record a special message with the video team. Some were so animated it was hard not to break out into a full belly laugh listening to them. Inside a small group gathered to watch a video of the photo memories throughout their 50 years together and what they experienced in life. As the night processed on, the cutting of the anniversary cake had every family member and friend gathered as Bill & Mary sweetly fed each other their 50th anniversary dessert.
The 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration was inspiring and fabulous. These two have shared so much love over the years. And have four children who adore them. Watching that love in the room this night was very magical.
