Photo Album.
The Photo album is one of the fabulous ways to preserve your memories and share with those you love. The photo session is just the beginning to capturing a slice of time and showing your personality. With Royce Images Photography, sessions are custom and personalized to the people in the photos. After the session is where the fun starts for me in reaching the final product. As I relive a session during the editing process, I will also be thinking ahead to how these images will be used by my clients in the form of prints, canvas wall art, and ultimately a custom photo album.
Before the age of digital photography, there was the true and pure form of negatives as a product of the photo session. Photographers didn’t have the innate ability that current professional photographers possess. Now we can view that photo on the back of the camera on a screen in any range of sizes. However, along the way the printed photo seems to have lost its way. This is very sad and sobering to me. I remember capturing photos with my film camera and the excitement of dropping the rolls to be developed. When I picked up the prints, I was in love with photography all over again.
The age of digital.
The current state of digital photography has certainly afforded me great opportunities. It allows me to further hone and perfect my skills while providing my clients with high end digital files. However, I become extremely sad when those images sit on computers and other current media INSTEAD of being printed. I remember walking into my grandparents home and my aunts home and seeing all those photos of their loved ones D-I-S-P-L-A-Y-E-D. And when you would remove a frame from the wall, you would see a few layers of photos contained within. The newest photo would be in the front with the history of that person behind.
I’ve heard it described by my fellow professional photographers about today’s photography like this: “this will be the most photographed generations however these generations will be the least seen in prints.” PLEASE don’t keep your phone photos on your phone… PRINT THEM! PLEASE don’t keep your digital photos on your computer… PRINT THEM! And the best way to print your photos for the best possible outcome is to choose a professional lab that knows how to produce a quality product that will last for generations. Not just until next year.
Print. Print. Print.
In this blog I wanted to specifically address Photo Albums. Years ago albums were pretty straight forward with only a few options in which to choose. Today, clients have a wide range of products, sizes, designs, materials and mediums from which to choose to print their photo albums. In the photos and the video below, I show you an engagement session that has come to life through some of these materials and mediums. I’m not a videographer, so please pardon my phone video skills. (maybe I need to partner with some of my videographer friends!)
Remember… don’t leave those files sitting around – PRINT PRINT PRINT!
